As part of the Engineering department you and your colleagues are responsible for the design of heavy mechanical machine structures, the execution of order-oriented engineering and the preparation of installation drawings, technical manuals, the hard- and software of our machines.

As an Electrical Hardware Engineer you have a lot to do with customer-specific requests. This is the biggest challenge for you right away. You are expected to come up with innovations that focus on, among other things, the machines and processes. The influence of electrical engineering is increasing in the Weir machines. It is therefore a position in which you are really important for the development of Weir as a company.

Responsibilities

  • Defining, setting up and maintaining the standard for HPGR and (T)ZPm controls
  • Studying and developing customer specifications and translating this into hardware design;
  • Preparation and design of control cabinets, wiring, installation and MCC diagrams;
  • Coordinate feedback from our customers internally and, where necessary, process adjustments;
  • Handling technical customer questions, possibly supported by internal technical specialists. You hereby have personal contact with our customers in writing, by telephone and occasionally;
  • During the term of the order in consultation with the unit specialists, keep order-specific documents up-to-date and make these order documents as-built at the final stage;
  • Compile parts lists and make drawings for assembly, test stand and service;
  • The preparation of hardware configurations of PLC (Siemens, Allen & Bradley) and HMI systems (Pro-face, Siemens, Allen & Bradley);
  • Working in compliancy with local applicable regulations such as CE, UL / CSA, ATEX, EN60204, Machine guidelines;
  • Occasionally you will travel internationally (for key projects).

    Education & qualifications

    Of course you have a flexible working attitude and you always put safety first. In addition to that we ask for:

  • Bachelor working and thinking level, related to electrical engineering;
  • As we are a global company, it’s important that you are fluent in English. Next to that the Dutch language is preferred;
  • Relevant experience as an electrical engineer through work or internship;
  • Knowledge of the drawing package E-plan P8 is a big plus;
  • Knowledge of E-plan Cogineer is a big plus.
